Term 4 2022

Majura Women’s Group Program

Providing opportunities for friendship and creative outlet for women with young children. Come along on Wednesdays during school term from 9.30am to 12:30. We meet at the Downer Community Centre. Childcare for children 9 months+ provided for a gold coin donation. New members are always welcome.  Our activities are open to all mums with kids under 5 years of age. No bookings required, just show up!

Millinery Sunhats
Welcome back for term 4! The sun is finally out and UV levels are on the rise. Come and decorate your very own sun hat with the help of expert milliner Christine Waring.

Macrame Plant Hangers
Time to get knotting as local artist Annette Boyd teaches us all how to make macrame plant hangers. Annette is very environmentally conscious and specialises in crafts made from natural materials.

Womens Health and Physiotherapy Discussion
Today we are joined by Womens Health Physiotherapist Lauren Riddell for an informal chat about womens health. Lauren Specialises in pelvic floor, incontinence, prolapse, sexual health and lactation. She has plenty of tips and tricks to share with us, and looks forward to answering your burning questions.

Today we are decorating plant pots. Brighten up your garden, or put them in your Macrame hanger from our week 2 activity.

Lindy Hop Swing Dancing
It’s time to get your dancing shoes on and give SWING DANCING a go! This week Philippa from Canberra Swing Katz will be teaching us Lindy Hop.

Polymer Clay Bowls
Local artist Lex Sorrentino has been teaching sculpting in Polymer & Air-Drying Clay for approximately 24 years. And this week she will be sharing her knowledge with us, as we learn how to make and bake beautiful polymer clay bowls.

Watercolour Painting
Come and learn the art of watercolour painting! Sienna from Ink and Wattle will teach us a series of expressive watercolour techniques and guide us through the step-by-step process of creating our own watercolour artworks. MWG members will be able vote on the painting selection for this session in our members Facebook group.

This week we welcome back the ever popular Anne Patterson from Close To My Heart for a Christmas themed paper craft session.

Canvas Decorating
Get your creative juices flowing as we decorate canvases with paint pens, buttons, puffy paint, and anything else you can find in our craft cupboard. The only limit is your imagination!

Punch Needle Kits
For the last session of the year we have a relaxing craft morning planned with some Christmas themed punch needle kits and a spectacular morning tea. Or bring along some wrapping paper and get your Xmas wrapping done 😉
